Bone Broth

Flu season is right around the corner and we want to do everything we can to help our immune system fight off those nasty infections.  A staple in our household is homemade bone broth.  Bone broth has been used for years to help fight off disease-“Good bone broth will resurrect the dead”! 

Bone broth is packed with nutrients that helps your body and lungs fight off infections, they also have nutrients that help with stiffness and pain in joints.

Some benefits of bone broth include:  

Helps heal and seal your gut, and promotes healthy digestion.Inhibits infection.
Reduces joint pain and inflammation.Fights inflammation.

Promotes strong, healthy bones.
Promotes healthy hair and nail growth.

Here is the recipe that we follow: 

  • Roast bones – 400 degree@ 40 minutes flip half way – 1.5-2 lbs from local farmer
  • Veggies-peel and cut 1 onion, 4 large carrots, peel and smash 6 garlic cloves
  • Add all into crock pot
  • Add celery 6 stalks
  • spices- 2 tbsp -parsley, 2 bay leaves,1 tsp- thyme, 8-peppercorns, 2 tsp- salt, 1/4 cup-apple cider vinegar
  • 10 cups filtered water 
  • Cook for 8 – 12 hrs 
  • Strain and fill in mason jars
